Full course description
Curtailing climate change is the most urgent challenge confronting humanity as the 21st century hits its stride. “Decarbonizing” requires reinvestment at a scale that dwarfs the New Deal or Marshall Plan. Climate change is not occurring in a vacuum. Climate action must also resolve systemic injustice and inequity that restricts human progress globally. Homo sapiens are now an urban species. Shaping the built environment has never been more consequential.
Carl Elefante, FAIA, FAPT is Principal Emeritus with Quinn Evans where he served as design principal for architecture, historic preservation, and community revitalization projects. Known for coining the phrase: “The greenest building is… one that is already built.” Carl writes and lectures internationally on historic preservation, sustainable design, climate change, and urban topics. Carl is a senior fellow with Architecture 2030 and sits on the board of the Climate Heritage Network (CHN).
