Full course description
Immigration is one of the most fraught topics in American politics, with much public conversation based on myth, not facts. This lecture uses ‘big data’ to provide new evidence on the American Dream. Immigrants to the US today move up the economic ladder and engage in cultural assimilation at the same pace as the Ellis Island generation. What’s more, the children of immigrants experience rapid social mobility, even if their parents hailed from poor countries.
