Full course description

Immigration is one of the most fraught topics in American politics, with much public conversation based on myth, not facts. This lecture uses ‘big data’ to provide new evidence on the American Dream. Immigrants to the US today move up the economic ladder and engage in cultural assimilation at the same pace as the Ellis Island generation. What’s more, the children of immigrants experience rapid social mobility, even if their parents hailed from poor countries.

Dr. Leah Boustan is a professor of cconomics at Princeton University, where she serves as the director of the Industrial Relations Section. Professor Boustan is also the co-director of the Development of the American Economy Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research
