Dr. Diane Golzynski and Aimee Alaniz, M.Ed
A Whole Child, Whole School, Whole Community framework, developed through ASCD and the CDC, recommends that school and community leaders lean on five anchoring questions for student and staff wellness. Are children healthy? safe? challenged? supported? and engaged? The team at Michigan Department of Education will highlight strategies that support this vision for our state’s learners, birth through post-secondary education.
Diane Golzynski, PhD, RDN, SNS
Dr. Golzynski is the Director of the Office of Health and Nutrition Services and the State Child Nutrition Director at the Michigan Department of Education. She is responsible for the USDA child nutrition programs, the USDA Commodity household programs, and the School Health and Safety Programs which includes school safety, mental and behavioral health, youth suicide prevention, bullying prevention, HIV and sex education, nutrition, physical, and health education, and chronic absenteeism.
Aimee Alaniz is currently the Supervisor for the School Health and Safety Unit with the Michigan Department of Education. Previously, she spent 15 years serving as a classroom teacher and Administrator in the Lansing area. Aimee Has her Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, and Master’s degrees in Special Education and Administrative Leadership from Michigan State University.
