March 9, 2023
10:00 - 11:30am
Amber Arellano, Executive Director, The Education Trust-Midwest

Amber will discuss the state of Michigan’s education performance over the last two decades and what strategies leading states are using to ensure all students catch up and accelerate in a post-COVID-19 world. Her presentation will detail data showcasing how long-standing inequities, including in Michigan’s funding system, have resulted in devastating opportunity gaps, particular for historically underserved students. To change the trajectory and make Michigan a top 10 state for education, she will outline 10 recommended research-driven, equity-centered strategies for policymakers and state leaders to ensure that every Michigan student has the opportunity to achieve success in school and life.
Amber Arellano is the founding executive director of The Education Trust-Midwest, recognized as a leading voice for non-partisan data, research and policy expertise.
